I need to put a winch onto my road base to help load on my Stratos Keel. Has anyone any suggestions how it should be attached to the trailor as there seems to be no obvious place.

Thanks

My laser stratos keel trailer has a winch which bolts onto the road base. It must come as an extra, so should be available from Laser. If you need more detailed info let me know. Bye the way, I really enjoy sailing my stratos keel, do you too? It's nice to have such a fast boat with all the toys, but knowing you are not going to capsize if you push hard.

Thanks Brian. Does your winch attach to the mast support post or onto another part of the trailer.

Thanks

Hi Glyn
the mast support post slots into a support tube. That support tube has a braced flat plate on its back face, at the top of the tube. Two holes in it locate the trailer winch, which is a Dutton-Lainson DL600 600lbs/272 kgs standard trailer winch with a strap not a wire.

Brian

I sail from Keyhaven, near Lymington on the south coast. Its at the very western end of the Solent, just inside Hurst Castle and the Needles. The area has strong windS and tides, so the Stratos keel suits the area realy well. Where do you sail? It would be really nice to sail with another Statos keel.

Brian

My Stratos is kept at Rutland Water. We are planning to travel more with the boat in the near future.

As I have only just found the time to investigate the message board, you may already resolved your trailer winch problem. However, I notice from your later responses that your boat is at Rutland - my boat is the other Stratos Keel at RSC - so if you need to see how Laser's winch arrangement works let me know. It is of great assistance as it is then possible to get the boat on and off the road base single-handed.
