I notice in the class rules that one must race without a trapeeze? I wonder why it is an option then and does anyone know how this affects sailing with one within a PY mixed fleet? I find it really useful especially going upwind in stronger conditions, downwind it is very hard to get far enough aft and keep ones balance at the same time!

Seems a bit daft to disallow it!

It would be better to allow it, and use a different PY. Or just get everyone on the wire!

I sail the boat with my wife, who is a relative novice, and after several weeks of hiking, we introduced the trapeze... and... NO MORE SORE LEGS!!

We've sailed the boat in over 30 knots of breeze with her ladyship on the wire and provided I keep the boat reasonably flat.. she's happy!

As for downwind on the wire, not yet... unless it's a really tight reach I just bear off and go with the gust.
