I am thinking about replacing my small yacht with a Stratos C/B or keel if finances allow. I have a seawater marina berth and would like to keep the Stratos there for all or part of the year. Most of the time I sail alone so a beach launch may not be prectical. Do any other owners do this? Can they be anti-fouled? Thanks for your help, suggestions welcome!

Hi Andy. I would not have thought that a Stratos C/B would be stable enough to leave on a marina berth especially if it blows up. It is going to rock around a lot. The Stratos Keel, with the keel down, should be fine. I have no idea if they can be anti-fouled, but I suspect not. I would ask Laser. Is pulling it out every 3 weeks or so for a spray down an option?

Thanks Nick, there is no where in the marina to take a boat out(without a very expensive lift), the only option would be to go out to sea and then beach to boat to give her a clean and I'm not sure how practical that would be? What do you think? Andy

Andy, sure there must be a public slipway where you can take the boat ashore on the launching trolley sometimes for a clean. What size is the berth? I would have thought a c/b version would be very unstable on a marina berth as Nick mentioned. What yacht do you have berthed there now and what's your reason for considering a stratos as a replacement?

There is a slipway in tne marina but you are not allowed to launch on it (you have to pay for a lift)but I could recover it to on the beach at low tide. The berth is 10m and I have a Seamaster 815 (8m Holman and Pye designed yacht - would consider part exchange!!)I learnt to sail on dinghys and currently only sail locally
and miss the excitment that a dinghy gives. I think the Stratos would give fun on my own with the opportunity to take others out. When on the berth I could secure the boat on both sides which would reduce the windage. Andy

I have a stratos keel with anti fouling that was previously on a swing mooring near the isle of wight. There is no problem with anti fouling the hull and keel.

You need the keel for the swing mooring which makes the boat heavy to move . Two people struggle in soft sand or shingle.

I have sailed from Warsash sailing club before and you will have no problem floating the boat on to the trolley and then pulling the trolley out of the water by a long rope attached to your car (on firm ground). Once the trolley is far enough up the beach to get the trailer and car on firm gravel winch the trolley on to the trailer whilst the trailer is attached to the car. In my experience it is a one man job.

Hi, thanks for the advice, its a real help - did you anti foul the boat yourself?, if so what did you use? Andy
