hi, I'm thinking strongly of buying a stratos c/b for some family sailing but i will have to use it as a trailer sailer, is this practical or would it take too long each time to set up mast and rigging .

I would say it is is very suitable. Just packed mine onto the trailer for a weekend away. It took less than an hour with two young, inexperienced, and easily distracted helpers. Most of that was spent figuring out how to fit a topper on top of the Stratos. Without the topper and with experience I would expect to get from trailer to water or vice-versa in about 45 minuets. The mast is not as easy as a Wayfarer which has the nice Pivot at the bottom, but it is fairly light and if you keep the boat trailer hitched up to the car while raising the mast you can confidently move from the rear of the boat to the front lifting the mast at the same time. Once the mast is located at the foot and in the gate you can then secure the fore stay and shrouds in that order and all from inside the boat. hope this helps.

thanks sboot, i was hoping with experience we would be able to get from trailer to water in about 30 mins this would mean, with travel we would spend at least 2hours getting there and back.

With practice and a fair wind you can do it in 30 mins....we have had our boat for 5 years or so and sailed all over the place and have a good routine if we take the boat elsewhere.....various options for stepping the mast but if/when you get the boat get back on here and there will lots of advice.......it is a great boat for family sailing and if you want to is pretty quick for aboat of this size/weight

Cheers
