Dear Laser Stratos Class Association Members,

I hope you are all managing to get out in your boats now that the nice weather has arrived. We did a cruise on Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed it. It seems that summer doesn’t arrive and then when it does, its full on heat and sunshine for 3 days and then thunderstorms.

Now to get down to the main purpose of this message: the turn out at the Nationals at Grafham Water in May was not good, in fact it was awful – only 4 boats turned up ……YES FOUR boats!!!

On the Saturday evening we had the AGM and we decided to do some market research, that is, try to find out why so few of you turned up. I’d like you, if possible, to complete this survey.

I didn’t come to the Nationals at Grafham because:

1. I’m not interested in racing.
2. The weather.
3. I didn’t like or know the venue. (If possible please explain why)
4. It was on a bank holiday weekend.
5. I had something already planned.
6. Other reasons (examples please)

Would these ideas make you more likely to come next year?

7. A discounted entry fee (no fee for the first 20 boats that enter?)
8. Some form of childcare (with an appropriately trained carer) so that parents can race
9. Less races
10. More races
11. Training on one day and racing on a second day.
12. Cruising one day and racing one day.
13. Any other suggestions.

If you can let me know what you want from the event then I can hopefully deliver and we can get a few more people to turn up.

Any suggestions, ideas, general comments or any sort of feed back would be gratefully received. It was good to meet up with a few of you lot out there and, I’m sure, that if we could get more of you together you would have a great time.

If you feel like commenting here, please do so. If you prefer, you can email me privately at classsecretary@laserstratos.org.uk

Please remember it is YOUR class association and the more you put into it the more you will get from it.

Regards,

Sandy

Reasons: Time, Lack of crew, our sailing club sailing program and i tend towards cruising even though i race at our club but enjoy visiting the coast and like to get the Stratos going as against river sailing.
I know all excuses but thats life at this time.
Best Regards
Philip
