We have recently bought a Stratos Keel and find the windward performance a bit disappointing.

We are struggling to keep up with a well sailed L16.

The tacking angle is certainly in excess of 90 degrees.

Can anyone offer any suggestions?

To start with I would recommend to pull the cunningham, kicking strap and mainsheet hard and apply strong rig tension (jib halyard), then try to sit forward on the boat and keep it flat (can take a lot of hiking).

Then you may want to play with rig tuning (cf. Hits & Tips/Tuning page of the web site).

Regards,
Pascal
