Hi, It's a small point but one that would make life easier....How on earth do I roll the main sail and prevent it from bending whilst carrying it back from the hard to the car? The foam insert is a pain, and having rolled the stratos no less than six times in heavy winds the insert seems to be bit of a token gesture. Cheers.. SG.

I gave up. Now roll up still on boom, and leave in the bottom of the boat. Seems to dry off really well. Feel guilty, but it does seem to dry ok. Now leave jib rolled up, top disconnected and laid along side the deck. Gennicker left in sock. Even more guilty feelings, but vastly reduced rigging time before going sailing is a major bonus. Regards from Keyhaven, near Lymington. |

Try this for size. Cut a length of 4” plastic drainpipe slightly longer than the mainsail foot. Drill a hole and cut a slot in each end to suit cordage used. Tie a knot in one end of a 15mm * 5mm (or similar) length of cord, thread the cord through the hole in the pipe, the knots the stopper, then through the tack ring, finally tieing another knot in the free end and slip the cord into the slot, again the knots the stopper. Repeat for the clew end and remembering to keep the batten parallel to the pipe, simply roll the sail up. Normally there are two of us but I have successfully carried out the operation on my own. I also use the above to roll the jib and I do find it keeps both sails crease free. |

I roll the main from the bottom, and leave it in the boat with the cover off. Seems OK
Jib is unfurled, and rolled from the head, though the tack is left attached, as well as the sheets. It lies on top of the kite sock.
I usually leave the kits in the boat, though I pull it out of the sock and let it sit beside the jib on the foredeck. I dries better than in the sock. |

I too agree the foam insert is a pain. As it does not stop the boat turtling anyway, I wonder whether Laser might consider simply fitting the same non-foam main as the keel version? |
