Assuming the tank in the center of the boat (the one the small bung at the back drains)is the main bouyancy for the boat.
I suspect that it is a bad thing that I am finding water in this tank after each sail.
If anyone else is finding this problem then please let me know if you have found the source of your problem.
One thing that one of you could tell me is should the hatch cover at the back of the boat in the center have an "O" ring seal around it, as mine does not and I am wondering if this could be the cause of the water ingress.
Cheers

Pat,

I'm guessing your boat leaks while is is normally sailed? I have some experience to share relating to capsize, but this may not be your case - I don't know. I doubt your hatch cover will present much of a leak.

We had very serious problems with our Stratos test boat leaking, with lots of water coming from the drain hole on recovery. After detailed examination, we found the problem related to the design of the shroud plates.

The plates were bolted through with threaded bolts and as the rig tensioned, these bolts acted as tiny files and quickly wore the fitting hole oval. As the hole enlarged, the bolt moved more and enlarged the hole further. When the dinghy capsized one of these enlarged holes was well underwater, while the opposite one high in the air acting as a "breather". As the gunwale where the shroud plate was fitted was hollow, the end result was a very significant leak on capsize.

Happily Laser fixed the problem for us when we purchased the rest of our Stratos fleet. One thing I think they have done is to fill the gap in the gunwale moulding so even if the shroud plate bolt get loose and enlarges the whole, it still does not leak. Ithink (but am not sure) that they also changed the bolt / plate arrangement. However, these bolts do regularly need to be checked and kept very tight.

Perhaps this may be helpful?

Kevin
