Hi folks,

Anyone know where I can get a spreader adjuster? Had a look on laser site but no luck. In the big winds (F10!) over here in galway, a puny laser 2 got flipped up in the air and landed right where I had laid my mast. Thankfully, the only damage done was the spreader adjuster snapped. I got very lucky, particularly when surveying the carnage in the dinghy park. I'll never curse the 120 kilo keel again!

It's a standard proctor/selden part. Any on-line chandler will have one. I use Northampton Sailboats.

When I spoke to Rob Guthridge at Laser today, he said that the adjustment of the spreaders on the old masts is based on the deflection of the spreader tips from the sail track on the mast. If you stretch a string between the shrouds at the spreaders, this should be at a distance of 225mm from the sail track (for a Stratos).

If you need to get the spreaders even, start with both adjusters fully closed, and turn both adjusters evenly to get the distance to the sail track above.
