Ah ha, That makes much more sense. I've tried with just some self adhesive velcro (fluff side) in the groove on the keel and it's absolutely useless. So theres fluff in the slot in the deck floor and in the band on the keel.
Very many thanks for taking the time to photograph and post. I'll see what I can find at the chandlers and post some pictures of the result.
Here you go. The fluff is about 13mm long with self adhesive backing. I was thinking about adding to the slot at deck level and two wraps around the recess in the keel itself in the grooved area.
