I just wanted to draw everyone's attention to the event on 9-10-th September at Whitstable posted in the "Racing" section of the forum. Although nominally its a race, the event consists of a cruise on one day and racing on the next. You can mix and match, so if you only want to do the cruise or you just want to race you would still be welcome. Wanderers and Stratos's may enter on the day at the registration desk in the Club Committee room, but if possible could you please enter in advance, using the entry form which can be downloaded from the Club website or Wanderer or Stratos class websites. If you are a Wanderer or Stratos owner, we need your entries! Other WYC cruising dinghies who wish to come on the cruise are asked to register and to pay a fee of £5 for the day.
Programme:
Full details on the club website under "EVENTS" "SAILING".
A brief reminder of the main points of the programme:
Saturday:
0900 Registration starts (including those who have pre-entered)
1030 Briefing for cruise. N.B. Please read the cruise brief on the website.
1100 Cruise departs
1600 (Approx) cruise returns.
1900 for 1930. Evening meal and social.
Sunday:
0900 Registration for Sunday only arrivals.
0930 Briefing.
1000 (Approx). Launch. N.B. Committee Boat start. Allow time to sail out.
1030 Start of Race 1. Races 2 & 3 to follow back to back. Races will be short.
1330 (Approx). Come ashore.
t.b.a. Prize-giving.
Evening Meal and Social:All competitors and their guests, and anyone involved in helping with the event, plus any other members of the Slow Handicap Class who wish to come along, are invited to the evening meal and social.
Cost: Adults £11.00 per person. Children £6.50.
Menu: Set meal (adults), Tomato and Sweetcorn soup, Roast Beef, Chocolate Gateau or fresh fruit salad.
Booking: Please book your meal:
(a) by using the entry form for the event, in advance or on registration, or:
(b) you can book at the WYC bar, where there will be a list (ask Val).
Other catering:The teabar will be open each morning for breakfast, snacks and drinks, and I have asked them to make sure that food will be available for competitors coming ashore after racing on Sunday (around 1400).
