Posted - 19 Sep 2012 : 16:44:06 Is an outgoing tide against a reasonable southwestly. this happens on when you approach chichester harbour from the Solent. The waves are massive and right behind the boat lift the transom high and burying the spinny pole in the trough of the wave as the boat rides the wave until it overtakes you. The boat is surfing but the rh jibe on a asermetric course is hard because your then parallel with the wave and we have capsises backwards. Other boats with poled genaker can sail downwind with out jibing which means they stay upright. After awhile upside down we revert to spinney down tacking then spinney back up.
