Has anybody removed the float in the top of a mainsail, I am tempted to do it since it doesn't do it's job.

I had the float removed by Batt sailmakers for about £15 a couple of years go, as I thought it would be a neater job. Big improvement. No regrets. Sail sets better and is much easier to fold away in the bag.

Hi..yes I have and it gave me a great deal of satisfaction !...use a very sharp knife and when you take everything away underneath is a pristine sail...if not sure I am sure a sailmaker will do it cheaply...
