Posted - 01 Jun 2011 : 19:34:41 I'm thinking of getting an anchor for our Stratos. Obviously I don't want to get one that is massive, but can anyone recommend a specific size, I was thinking of a folding one less than 2kgs. |

Posted - 18 Nov 2011 : 20:52:13 I had a grapnel but found it totally useless in soft sand. As it seems to me that an anchor is a piece of kit which must work when needed I splashed out and bought a Fortress (having been recommended this by someone who knows). The smallest size is for boats down to 5m and it is quite small and is made of aluminium so very light. Whilst about it I bought a lead lined rope anchor warp which remains tied round the base of the mast so all you have to do it chuck the lot over the side. Yes I am paranoic! Force 4 Chandlery sell the above. If you would like my grapnel you are welcome to have it FOC but I would not bother with it for anchoring a boat.

Posted - 02 Jun 2011 : 09:20:38 Hi..I use a 4.5kg grapnel with I think about 4 metres of chain (maybe 5 )....that should be enough for most things (temporary stops planned/unplanned)...we have never had any issues with that
