Posted - 26 Apr 2010 : 20:24:49 Have the rudder rigged up with a quick release cleat which works well. But note that it is possible to pull the blade down beyond 90 degrees to the transom. Search on 'rudder' here indicates some kind of rubber stop is available. Looked on the Laser website and found these under Stratos rudder parts:

Is this what I need? which one? how to attach? Advice appreciated before I spend £20+postage on a small piece of rubber...
Having a lot of fun with the boat, second season, but it does have huge weather helm in a force 4-5 if you do not keep the hull level (or have arms like Popeye). Presumably this is due to the angular hull cross-section digging in on the leeward side. Maybe rudder alignment is not helping.

I'm not 100% sure but I think those parts might be something to do with the keel-assembly on the Stratos Keel.
See page 6 of the parts manual: http://www.laserperformance.com/images/assets/pdfs/stratoskeel/stratosparts.pdf
Can anyone with a Stratos Keel confirm / deny this?

Posted - 27 Apr 2010 : 12:07:30 Neil I had the same problem and laser sent me some self adhesive rubber strips which i fitted to the inside of the rudder stock (boat was new so they sent it good will) you may be able to find something locally.
