Hi Max,
We have the same, a Honda short shaft which works very well when required, although we don't tend to use it much, just as backup on cruises. There was a similar topic raised sometime ago which is still relevant: http://www.laserstratos.org.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=315

2.2 honda short shaft, air cooled to keep that salt water at bay!

works fine with our tiny Yamaha 2 hp 2 stroke. Sure it could take something bigger but that has been suffucient for us, even 8 up with gear
