Does anyone else have a problem with getting the mainsail to set in very light winds? The top batten stops the sail from "going over" in very light winds. Should I just take the batten out? THe float thing does not help either.....

Just got my sail back from cygnus sails, he repaired it and at the same time took out the 'nappy'

with the family on board I use a 'crew-saver' mast float, it looks crap, but, at sail school they had one on, and the instructor walked out on a capsized mast and only stopped when we thought he may bend the mast, the float is very powerful at keeping the boat from inverting.

Inverting with a young family is a dread of mine , so I play safe with the float.

the sail looks great without the 'nappy' as it was always curly

I would imagine that you could get Holt or another sailmaker to remove the foam pad for you. In fact I think some have already done this. These threads http://www.laserstratos.org.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=297 and http://www.laserstratos.org.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=305 also refer to this subject.

Yes, I've often had to ease the sheet and 'flap' the sail to force it over. I'm also thinking of replacing mine with a keel mainsail - which I hope will work better.
