Hi,
I was just wondering whether anyone knows what the ideal combined crew weight is (including helm).
Not sure whether I should eat more or less cream cakes !!!

For general sailing I don't think it makes any difference, the boat seems to perform whatever weight is aboard.
I have found that with my eldest son or wife (combined weight 24 stones) we can manage most conditions (providing the helm is up to it !) whereas with only my younger son (combined weight 20/21 stones)we are good in lighter/medium winds but can be overpowered in strong gusts. The trapeze option means that the boat can be sailed in virtually anything and pretty quickly....thats the kids view anyway. I think a bacon sarnie or two to keep the boat flat is definately the best option
I have also been experimenting with mast rake etc and that seems to help in stronger winds......all part of the fun !

I don't know what others think but my view is that the boat is very 'accommodating' to the heavier helm! I way 21-21st geared up and my crew weight varies between 6st and 16st. I moved up from a Laser 2000 and was instantly more successful (handicap club racing). Even in light winds she moves well but when it's breezy - the weight is a big help. If you're on the lighter side, the boat is so forgiving that you should have no problems.
If it's 'really' blowing, I just add more crew!
