Posted - 08 Aug 2006 : 21:26:45 As a novice Stratos owner, we have only just rigged and used the gennaker for the first time,as we have not used a gennaker before.
I am not sure how much length of sheet there should be between the gennaker tack and the end of the pole. ie should the tack be right down to the tip of the pole, or should there be a length of sheet between them. Had a look on the L2k forum which suggests about 2 inches for L2k
Presumably I adjust it by how short I tie off the other end of the tack sheet, running through the pole, to the eye near the mast.
L2k also suggest a 30 cm bowline loop to attach the downhaul, to minimise bunching. Any comments for the Stratos.

Posted - 29 Sep 2006 : 01:12:46 rather belated response but ... a large enough bowline to make sure the two patches are separated when you drop the kite will make pulling it all in much easier. some people fit a bobble but then some say the extra weight is a no no (we've just never got round to trying it). As for the tack line length, it can be helpful in light airs when you're trying to sail as low as poss to have a longer tack line so the kite flies further out from the main; in effect you're lengthening the luff to try and convince it that it's a symmetrical spinnaker. We do fit a bobble at the end of the uphaul to separate the head from the mast by an inch or so.
Now we're sailing the Stratos in shallower waters around Blakeney we're once again struggling with our rudder downhaul which keeps snapping despite the autorelease cleat - thinking of trying a bit of plastic tubing to stop the rudder fittings abrading the line. Any other ideas??

There are a few pictures in the Hints & Tips / Rigging section that show the gennaker rigged (2nd page).
